Tara Lynns Boutique

Happy Friday! This week has flown by and I cannot believe we are already to the weekend. I am not complaining, I need a break. My girls have been high strung and I think we are all ready to unwind and have some fun. A few weeks ago I posted these looks on my Instagram account. I received many compliments and I can honestly say they are so comfortable. Sometimes I will have clothes sent to me and they look great but I am ready to change after a few hours. Not these two!

I love the details on this long sleeved tee. The elbow pads add the cutest touch and the buttons down the back give it such a different look. With fall approaching I need as many shirts as I can get to layer with and this would be perfect by itself or paired with a scarf and sweater. FIND THE LOOK HERE -> Heathered Button Down

This black maxi is a dress that is not only comfortable but it has pockets. When you become a mom, any extra pocket space on your body is greatly appreciated. The material is soft cotton and the neckline was a delicate scoop neck. I knotted the bottom of the dress to add a little dimension and to also give more notice to the shoes I was wearing.

The accessories were a fun added touch and gave it more of a fall feel. This is just one of many ways to wear this style dress. What are some different ways you think this dress should be styled? I would love to hear your opinions! FIND THE LOOK HERE-> Susie Q Dress

Enjoy your weekend!!

RoseWholeSale Laceup Heels

Happy Thursday! One more day until the weekend! I came back home early Wednesday morning (2:30am kind of early) from a week away visiting my family. I loved being able to see my sister and her tribe but it is always so good to come back home. In the words of Dorothy, "there is no place like home!"

I recently partnered with Rose wholesale and they have some of the cutest shoes! These black lace ups were just the shoe I have been looking for. One would think with all the pairs of shoes that I own I would have multiple pairs of black shoes, but I dont! I had my eye on a few different pairs however I wanted a shoe that was a little different, not the usual pair you would find at Target. This style was comfortable, easy to lace up and I was able to wear them for hours without feeling that urge to talk them off and kick it up. The best part?? The shoes are $16. I mean seriously how great is that? Shop the look below and dont forget about the coupon codes! Like the dress? I will have a blog for that very shortly!!

Irresistible Me Hair

Ok Lets talk hair! My hair has changed very much over the past six years. Prior to having children I had fine, super wavy, semi thin hair that kept a curl all day long. In high school I even won the award for “Best Hair” my senior year. I was the girl who would wake up early in the morning to do her hair when most other high school students were trying to catch those last five minutes before the buzzer went off.

Fast toward ten years and two kids later and my hair is totally different. In the past I would have ringlets and voluminous hair and now it tends to fall flat shortly after being blow-dried and is pin straight. Isn’t it crazy how much hormones can change a persons hair? I know I am not the only mom out there who experienced a 180! I have heard so many stories.

I have used different hair extensions in the past. Some have been awful, where the hair has disintegrated when a curling iron touches them and others have been ok to use, but only provided a few uses.

When I received my Irresistible Me hair extensions in the mail I was so excited to try them! The package provides you with several different size clips, allowing you to decide how thick and full you would like your hair to be. They are 100% human hair and curl the same way as the hair on top of my head does.

When picking out my extensions on their website I was able to decide on what color and length I wanted to choose. In all honesty I was very nervous I had picked the wrong color, however when I placed the clips in my hair they matched perfectly! You would never be able to tell the difference.

I personally cut my extensions so they blended better with my hair length. When placing the clips in your own personal hair if you do NOT put them in right they can hurt do to pulling on hair. You need to make sure that any hair that is not going to be placed in the clips is out of the way. For example, taking your hair by sections and pulling up and out of your way will guarantee no fly away hair will get stuck. I learned a great tip a few years ago: Tease the hair that you plan on placing the clips in. This not only allows the clips to sit better in your hair, it helps alleviate strain on your hair. I like to use the large weft at the bottom on my hair. Because it is larger, there is a little bit of weight placed on my head. If I tease my hair and then place the clips in it helps with the weight and I can wear my extensions all day long.

These extensions are so easy! I love that they are low maintenance and low commitment. I even use them for braids! They are so versatile and can be worn in multiple different ways. They only add about 2 minutes more to my routine in the morning. 2 minutes!! And those are the days I feel like they need to be curled again. SO easy! I highly recommend them! Take a look at the irresistible me website and browse all the different options they have. In the next week I will have another post with different styles that can be worn with these extensions. Cant wait to show you all!!

Make Me Chic

I love fall dresses! I am naturally drawn to cooler colors, so when I see the olive and caramel  and deep reds I cannot help but swoon over them. Maybe it is the time of year that these colors are associated. Regardless, I love everything and anything associated with fall. Except for haunted houses. I cannot do those. They are the worst! If you want to see me bawl like a baby, drag me out to one of those on a Friday night.

Bunny trailing....When I found this dress on the Make Me Chic  website I fell in love right away. I am a sucker for florals, if you have been following me for some time now you know that. I love anything floral so this dress jumped off the page as soon as I saw it!

The back detailing was probably my favorite part of the dress. I liked that it had a different flair to it, compared to some other dresses I have seen.

Since the dress has a heavier design I made sure to keep the shoe basic. Another great shoe option would be a strappy red heel. Something that has a little pop of color, without there being too much shoe. Our eyes naturally draw down so you want to keep the shoes flowing with the dress.

Take a look around the site. There are many cute dress options for affordable prices. Happy Thursday!

Affordable, Chic, and Savvy

Two things I love are when fashion and affordability combine and bring you great results. That is why I love the Affordably Chic Boutique. They have great products at even greater prices. We (all of us) work very hard for our money so I always try to spend it as wisely as possibly, hence the “savvy” in savvygirlsstye. It is also important to me, to show my followers where they can find fashionable products without spending their whole pay check.

This Tunic from Affordable Chic is such soft cotton! There are so many different ways this tunic can be worn. I kept it plain and simple so you could see the shirt easily but with cold weather approaching this look would be adorable with a chunky infinity scarf or shawl with a floppy hat. You know the phrase “business in the front, party in the back”? The back of this tunic has a soft crochet detail all the way down the back. It adds a little flair to the shirt without being too distracting.

I paired this look with my favorite skinny jeans and booties. You could also create a more edgier look with black pants and black over the knee boots. Add a black choker and a little winged eye liner and you take a classic look a little darker depending on what you plans are for the night. I also love this look with converse sneakers and a baseball cap. My daughter plays soccer on Saturday mornings and this look was PERFECT for that!

When buying items a great piece of advice is to look for something that can be worn three different ways. That way you will get the most out of you money. Try and visualize how you could pair the item up as a day look, night look, and weekend look. Get creative!!

"Grace"ful Motto Leggings

It is my favorite time of year! Fall is my favorite season and New York is known for having some of the most gorgeous scenic views during these next couple months! Along with the pumpkins, hay rides, and lattes come my next favorite thing, fall fashion! Every year I just can’t seem to get enough boots, scarfs, and leggings. These motto leggings from Gracie James are such a hot item right now for fall! Anything motto is currently trending right now, and these leggings are on the top of the list for fall fashion.

One of my favorite things about leggings is the comfort that comes with it. Sometimes it can be hard to get a full description of an item from just a picture, so let me break it down for you. These leggings feel like a jean, but have a slight stretch in them allowing for room and comfort. The zipper on the bottom allows them to slide onto the leg easier, avoiding the awkward dance/jump most of us have to do to put our pants on. You know what I am talking about right?!! The design on the pant leg draws attention, making the leggings more unique however it still allows for tops that have designs to be worn without clashing patterns. Best part of all???? They are slimming! Can we just stop for a minute and thank the good Lord when our thighs look a little slimmer after a weekend of indulging in pizza? Please tell me I am not the only foodie out there, where are my Italian sisters? :)

The ladies in the shop have been such a joy to work with and offered all of my followers a 15% discount using code “SAVVY15”. Last I heard these leggings were selling out like loaded fries at a food truck rodeo so grab a pair now if you are interested!

Blush, Blooms, and Linen

Blooms and Linen has easily become one of my new favorite shops. The clothes have such a delicate and feminine look to them while maintain a vintage and modern feel. I came across this shop on Instagram and immediately fell in love with what they had to offer! I was scrolling through their site thinking, “I love this, and this and this….” I came across this keyhole shirt and just loved the blush color. I have been in a deep blush kick lately and am drawn to this color every time I see it.

I also loved the detail and unique look of this shirt.  I try and not follow all the trends just because they are trending, but follow them if they match with my own personal style. Chokers are a big trend right now and these types of shirts take the choker look to the next level.

These shoes were a TJ Maxx find. As soon as I saw them I may have squealed a little. To say I am obsessed with this color is an understatement, PLUS I am a shoe fanatic so my day was entirely made when I spotted this pair out of the corner of my eye. TJ Maxx has been stepping up their shoe game lately because I am finding the cutest shoes. If you have not been to your local store lately, stop by when you get a free minute. I can guarantee you will find something fabulous and affordable! I have linked an almost identical pair below.

When my daughter and I were out school shopping the other day we visited Charming Charlie. I found this cute little bangle that matched perfectly with my rings. My sister has a bangle similar to this and I just love hers. This one I am wearing here is only $10! Because it is gold and silver it is very easy to match with almost any outfit and pair with some other jewelry creating some great arm candy.

I have attached all these looks in the links below. The ladies over at Blooms ans Linen were kind enough to offer us a discount code. Use code: "20OFF" for 20% off anything on their site! Happy Friday!

One night in "Zori"

I am a mom. When you become a mom, 99% of life changes. I am not very big on change. Ok, let me rephrase that. I am not very good with reorganizing my life when it changes. I like to go with the flow, my typical answer to life according to my husband is "you decide".

You see when you become a mom any "organization" of life you had before goes out the window and you are left finding the new norm. What does any of this have to do with fashion? You see the dress I am wearing? When GIna and Kate sent this dress to me, my daughter ripped it out of my hands and wanted to snuggle with it. She asked if she could use it as a blanket. Like the great mother I am, I ripped it out of her hands and said, "Are you kidding me? This is my NEW dress!!"

How could my child ever think a dress would be used as a blanket?? Possibly because the dress is made out of the most comfortable material there is! When I slipped this on, it literally felt like I was wearing pajamas. Pajamas and heels to be exact. It seemed a little odd that something could look so pretty and be so comfortable, until I looked in the mirror and realized I was infact wearing an outfit ready for date night.

More often than not I realize I need to humble myself infront of my kids. My daughter was just as excited as I was to see the new package in the mail. We just had two different perspectives. After I shot some pictures in this dress I came home and sat on the couch and my babies snuggled right up to me. In a different way than usual. Mommy was obviously a lot more snuggly feeling today. Perhaps I felt like a blanket. The only thing my oldest daughter wanted to feel from that dress.

Life changes. The more children you have the more your world turns upside down. I am learning change can be a good thing. It allows for new opportunities and new perspectives. My girls show me on a daily basis that life is ever changing and with that comes new joys. Embrace the Change. And wear a "blanket" dress while you do. ")

Since we cannot change reality, let us change the eyes which see reality." Nikos Kazantzakis

Mama's Night out

This paisley romper is such a fun outfit! It has all the characteristics you need when looking for something to wear out. It is soft, light, fun design and is COMFORTABLE! I am all about the comfort lately. If I move and the outfit doesnt, I am headng back to my closet to change. I dont have time for a stiff shirt. The only thing that should be stiff is my drink after watching my kids all day. Ok, ok I am kidding. Kinda ..... :)

This gorgeous clutch is from Versona. I purchased it at their boutique located in Baton Rouge. If you think of Louisiana pray for all the families who lost everything in the flooding. It truly is devastating.

These Chinese Laundry booties were such a find. I have been dying to buy the Kristin Cavallari booties (pictured below), however I could not bring myelf to pay $150 for them. This pair I found at Burlingotn Coat Factory for $32! I may have done a little victory dance.

This rose gold bar necklace from Vintage Stamp Jewels is my go to. I wear it with everyting and it matches everythig as well. Plus the owner is so sweet, thats always a plus!

My little Redheaded Photographer

I love blogging! It has been so much fun to do. I have met such wonderful people and learned so much already in just a few short months. One thing I noticed is that finding a photographer can be a little difficult. Fortunately I have an awesome hubby, who helps me out from time to time but he has an extremely busy work life which does not always allow him to take pictures for me.

I just bought a new Nikon camera and am LOVING the pictures I get from it. I knew that I needed to snap a few of this amazing new fall blouse but what does a girl do when everyone is at their job? She puts her five year old to work! I had a crazy idea that my little girl could hold the camera still enough to take some pictures. I was desperately praying the entire time she would not drop it on the pavement. Quite risky I know, but I had faith she knew what she was doing. To my surprise she actualy took some awesome pictures! She may just be a little photographer in the making.

shein4.jpg

When I saw this blouse online I knew I needed it in my wardrobe for fall. It has the OTS sleeves and perfect fall colors. My hubby called me a sexy lumberjack. Not sure how to take it, but as long as he is happy I am happy.

We are going camping so today's blog is short and sweet. Hooray for the weekend right around the corner!

When life throws those lemons.......

Ok lets get honest here. Lately I have been struggling with mommyhood. It is wonderful and special and the fact that I can stay at home (part time) with my girls is such a gift.  However if you have been around the sun a few times you know that some gifts are not always what we expected. That same concept can be applied. I love my girls with every fiber in my body, but there are days, more often than not that the bickering, shouting and plain ole drama become to much to handle. For whatever reason, God desiged my little angels to be passionate, high strung and emotional (I just decsribed all females pretty much) and I am learning daily how to handle that. Now add being a wife, and working, and life and then if time allows, things that I enjoy. It can be a stuggle trying to find the balance.

Life does not come with a guidline. Oh, I wish it would! No matter how many times I can search google I will never find the perfect answer how to be a mother. It will give me a thousand opinion of others or say I am dying of a rare disease. Google is famous for misdiagnosing if you havent figured that one out yet.

I have noticed  a huge difference however if I have not read my bible.  When I am not reading God's word daily you know what happens? Discontentment sets in. Comparison starts to ransack my brain. Anger invades and makes me quick tempered and all the sudden my responisbilities just became a chore. The joy in raising two healthy beautiful girls has now became a nuisance and by 9am I am ready to go back to bed and bury my head.

The days I read my bible and pray are STILL hard! That part does not change, but what changes is my hearts attitude. I have strength to get through the day. I find more joy in the mundane and my complaints start to subside because I have allowed Gods word to sink into my heart and move me. This Christian life I walk is not easy, but Gods grace guides me and directs me to make better choices and live a life that is focused more on others and less on my own selfishness. To any moms, or any one else I hope I can encourage you today! Find joy in what you are called to do!

This shirt was such a fun and cute top to wear! I love the off the shoulder look, but still maintaining a shirt appearamce. This top seems to be more practical for children. Especially when they want to pull and tug on your clothes. One tug too hard and there goes a free show to anyone around! Oh those kiddos! The bag was a TJ Maxx find, and you know how those go. Almost impossible to find online. Check with your local store.

Windy day in the Roc

I have a good friend here in Rochester who has been taking pictures for my blog. We both are newbies to the fashion blogging world and are figuring out how to take the perfect picture while still keeping them candid. This last shoot was so much fun and had more laughter than what I was expecting. Mostly because it was pointed towards me! It was a windy, rainy day and the wind was whipping my hair back and forth (did you sing that last line? ;) making me look quite bald. You see I have a forehead that could put Tyra Banks to shame and the pictures were coming out quite disastrous. But laughter is the best medicine and I am totally ok with it! A good friend tells you like it is, and I am thankful for her.

This shirt courtesy of Make Me Chic is so fun to wear! It has everything that is currently trending: off the shoulder, bell sleeves, and tunic style. I ran into the grocery store after we took pictures and received compliments when I was checking out in line. It is definitely a must have in every ladies closet for a trending top. It can be worn to any event and can be dressed up or down. I chose to pair it with jeans, but it would look just as great with white pants or white shorts.

The white tote was a TJ Maxx find a few months ago and these heels are Journey brand. I bought the heels in my mall at a store called "The Undergroud Station". I have looked everywhere for a similar pair and yet to find one. I really wish I could, because these are one of my favorite pairs of shoes!

If you like what you see you can shop the look below! Also, if you enter your email on the make me chic website you can receive you first purchase for 20% off. I LOVE a good steal!

Hazel and Mae and Husbands

Lets talk dresses....ok that pun was clearly intended! :) I am always looking for dresses that I can wear that are fashionable and modest. With summer fashion in full swing, most of the dresses I have been seeing online and in the stores have not been very mom friendly. One bend to pick up your child and every one behind gets a fantastic show. I am all about shows, but those are meant for my husband. In the bedroom. Not for everyones viewing please.

When I came across Hazel and Mae Boutique, I fell in love with their dresses right away. My personal style tends to be on the feminine side and if you follow me long enough you know I love a good floral pattern. Hazel and Mae has so many cute dresses, I promise you that you will want to buy more than one.

Ok, lets talk material. If I could physically hand this dress over to you through the computer I would in a heartbeat. The best way for me to describe the material of this dress would be "cotton silk". It is so, so comfortable!  When I first slipped it on, I was surpised at how thick the dress was. It had an expensive feel to it, with enough air movement so the summer heat did not leave me with sweat stain like some others dresses I have worn in the past. Ya feel me!? I would recommend this dress hands down to anyone that asked, and I do not say that lightly. I am a stickler for comfortable clothes and this one ranks #1!

Take a look around the shop, you will be happy you did!

Sea Salt and Sunflowers

Last night the family and I went for a little drive to go see some sunflowers. I was expecting to see a small field with a few flowers here and there, but was pleasantly suprised when I saw acres of blooming yellow faces. It was beautiful! I have never seen anyting like it before in my life. Flowers towering over five feet tall with leaves the size of my hands. God's creation sure is wonderul!

Before we headed down to see what the all the buzz was about, the hubby snatched a few pics of me in some of my lastest items. Sea Salt and Honey Boutique sent me the cutest shirt for fall and I am swooning over the sleeves. I am all about a little pop of color and the sleeves have just enough to grab one's attention.

These boots from Just Fab have easily become my new favorite go to. They are perfect for running errands, date night, and even taking my little girls out. Chasing kids around does not always allow for the cutest shoes, but these booties have just enough heel to make me feel like a rock star mom. Just fab can be a big commitment if you do not want to spend $40 every month so I have found a similar pair linked here.

"Wood time is it Mr.Fox" Giveaway

My daughters and I have started to play a new favorite game, "What time is it Mr. Fox"? My youngest who is almost 2, does not quite understand and likes to yell "Fox" every time. It is the cutest thing! My older daughter who is starting kindergarten in a few weeks, loves to play and I am realizing it is a great transition into teacher her time.

In our house, the only place to find the time is on the microwave. Other than that we use our cell phones. We used to have alarm clocks, but those eventually just took up too much space and we eneded up getting rid of them. Being able to look at our cell phone for time is wonderful however if my phone is close by I am going to most likely be on it. There are so many amazing apps I can distract myself with, and before I know it I have wasted 30 minutes that could have been spent with my girls. That is why having a watch is so nice. It allows me to keep distractions at bay, and focus on the more important things in life.

Woodwatches sent me this beautiful watch that I cannot stop swooning over. It has such a unique look to it, I have never seen a design like this before! I love candy, ESPECIALLY arm candy and this watch makes dressing up a little bit more fun. You can find this exact style here.

I have teamed up with Jord to give one winner a $75 e-voucher towards any watch of their choosing. Everyone else who enters will receive a $20 e-voucher that can be applied to any watch on our website. Entering the giveaway is simple! All you have to do, is enter you email address. It takes 10 seconds! Click here to enter. The giveaway will remain open until August 26. The winner will be notified by email the day after. May the odds ever be in your favor!

Lace-ups with a side of Rouge

This was such a fun outfit to put together! I love the casual look of the button down with the pop of royalty when adding the tulle skirt. I found the skirt from charlotte russe for only $5! Can you believe it? I went shopping at the outlet center in Baton Rouge and stumbled upon this classy find. I have a thing for tulle skirts it appears from looking at this blog! :)

This chambray button down was purchased in the spring and it is my go to. I love to match it  with leggings and a white shirt or throw it over a tee when I get cold. If you do not own one I have attached a link at the bottom. Grab one, trust me you will thank me later. It goes with everything!!

So lets talk abut these shoes! Can you guess how much these cost? $5!! Once I saw that they were lace ups I knew they were coming home with me. I mean can you blame me?! It was either grab a coffee for $5 and gain weight from all the sugar or buy these heels and strengthen my calf muscle while walking around. Ok, ok, maybe that was a bit of a stretch but close enough right?!

So can we talk about the one thing missing from all of this? A necklace! It was not until I was looking through these pictures that I realized I never brought a necklace to the shoot with me. SO that is where YOU come in. I need YOUR help! What type of necklace would you pair with this outfit? Statement? Delicate? Long? Help me decide for the next time!

I hope I can inspire you even just the slightest bit to try something fun and new! Fashion is all about personal style. Showcase yours!!

A Summer's Eve in White

I currently am in the car with family driving down to Virginia for a wedding  so today's blog post will be short and sweet. Just the way every Wednesday should be. :)

I went to the mall several weeks ago with my daughters and  saw a dress that caught my eye in the window. As soon as I saw it I knew I HAD to have it, however the price always has to be right. Rue21 is not a store I normally shop in however this dress was so light and airy and it was marked at $30, but don't let that price fool you because it just recently was clearanced down to $12!

I received many compliments on this dress when my hubby and I went out the other night, so I knew I had to share where I bought it for the rest of you!
